"Print Screen" does not work on XP.

hi, Maybe someone can help with this problem. I have tried a few work arounds but no success as yet.

I have a very valuable DOS program which I use to solve problems. There is no equivalent on the market. When it runs, it takes over the whole screen. There appears to be no way to get it to run in a window. To obtain a record of results, I usually hit the print screen button and paste the screen dump into my photo editor, which can then be saved and printed as a JPG.

The above works fine on Win2k, but on XP the screen dump doesn't work. Now, there are programs such as Hypersnap which can take an image from a window, but Hypersnap cannot take an image from my full screen such as I have with this DOS program.

Another issue to take into account is that the program only runs with a parallel port dongle, so communication to the dongle port is essential.

Are you running the program in full screen?

Thanks for the response. There appears to be no choice. Despite my trying to change this, the program runs as full screen. When you start the program, there is a slight pause and then it takes over the screen completely. I can still use the ALT-TAB combo to revert into another running program or window.

Please tell us what you've tried - Alt+Enter to toggle screen size?  Shift+Print Scr to dump the screen?

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode ? ?
To do this create a desktop shortcut to the .exe...
Power down and re-boot.
Now right click the icon and select compatibility mode.
There should also be screen size options under advanced.

If not the other option is to try DosBox.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to follow this up later. I realized today that I don't have a printer port in my laptop any more so can't even plug the dongle in.

LTP Port, you mean?

I highly recommend dedicating an older computer to this program.
If it worked in Windows 2000, aim for Windows 2000, its still a very stable OS, and relatively secure with all service packs and updates installed.

Windows XP is right around the time where we still saw LTP ports, but, we started loosing software/OS driven support of LTP. Vista doesnt support it at all, I dont think.
