Bad Sector is an indication your hard disk is in its last leg. My advice, backup important data before it suddenly crashes beyond remedy. You can format from DOS with the "fdisk" command, then you type Format c:/s

All drives get/have bad sectors...this does not neccessarily mean the drive is failing...
I would DLoad and run the FREE diagnostics from the drive manuf. site.

perhaps not the last leg, but I'd say it's running it's last few laps...

Although I did use two hard drives with bad sectors for several years after they developed them. Nervously, but they worked.

He'd have more luck if he typed CHKDSK

When offering help it is a good idea to make it as accurate as you can. It is lame not to. You are sitting at a computer. Get it right in the DOS box before posting.

What's that supposed to mean? I don't appreciate being called lame for a simple mistake!
Also I don't appreciate your comment about missing toes. It's no fun! Try it sometime!

if it needs explaining then you aren't part of my target audience. Others will know what I mean.  ;)

                and it's actually a signature.

And I'm not changing it. Although, come it think of it, it's about time for a change...
