Sluggish Mouse
« on: January 05, 2009, 10:45:58 AM »
The problem is my sister's mouse has sluggish movement, but it only moves like that when I'm playing most games like MMOs or some hidden object games. I tried cleaning it and changing the settings, but I'm still having the same problem. BTW, the mouse is not optical.

I'd remove the track ball from the mouse and look at teh 2 wheels that the ball ride on...is there grime on the wheels. If so remove grime with q-tip and then clean ball, and when ball is dry place back into mouse and lock the quarter turn ball retaining plate and see if that helps.

If it doesnt help, buy a new mouse an optical is better and you might have trouble finding a ball mouse anyways.

If that is still an issue then are you eating up all the bandwidth on the USB port, such as is your internet connected via USB instead of Ethernet in which you have a saturated USB channel.

Your most likely problem:

That would be 256MB.
XP, especially, if you're gaming, needs at least 512MB of RAM (1GB preferable)

254MB ram would make sense if it was using 2MB for graphics but that would be almost un-useable for games.
