Software for P4PE Mobo
« on: January 05, 2009, 11:27:41 PM »
Hi guys,

As the subject says, I'm looking for the software that was bundles with the ASUS P4PE Motherboard.

N.B. not drivers, I have the newest of these :) just the utilities.

I have looked at ASUS support but they only have chipset drivers and none of the utilities (ASUS Probe, My Boot Logo etc.)

Which is unfortunately what I am after.

i have tried several versions of ASUS Probe but I have not been able to be successful in a install, it keeps saying my board is incompatible.

I managed to find a working version of winbond voice editor though.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Not sure if it will fool it into working but you can try disabling acpi in setup first.

well that is what I was thinking because every one you try tells you "motherboard not supported"...

however....I spent some time on the asus site looking at stuff for your board and all the implications are that the CD that came with the board had Asus Probe on
it so there must have been a version that worked....

so my guess is that the newer versions just didn't include support for the older boards...(which doesn't really make sense)...if you could possibly find a P4PE support CD you may have a versions that works....

that being said...if I'm not mistaken there are many programs out there that will do the same as the ASUS Probe software, so find one and use it and don't knock yourself out on the Asus Probe one if it's giving you trouble...IMO..

      Good Luck

yeah that's what caused me to start my search.

I was hoping it could help me alleviate what the Temp: portion of my speedfan readings were in my other post here.

Because in speedfan I was getting two similar readings, on 2 different buses.

one would rise, the other would follow shortly after, and vice versa.

I thought it might the the graphics controller temp as my board only has a heatsink on that.

but ok I guess I'l just stick to speedfan  :-\

I haven't updated my BIOS since I got the board (which by the way wasn't new, I bought it off trade me, which is New Zealand's eBay equivalent.

I haven't needed to either though.

I read through countless older forums stating how this board had a notorious cold boot problem that I've never had.

Only time it has ever BSOD'ed was because of the ATi Driver and when my hard drive failed and it simply reset then anyway.

Are you looking at OC'ng the board ? ?
If you really need the ASUS probe ver. for that board i'll continue the search...
Might need a version # however if you still have the docs...

patio...according to their web site it shipped/manufactured 2002 time frame...so that's the version you should try to find...

          Thanks Patio.

I do have the manual in PDF and it does have a section on the ASUS Probe...with a screenshot, however it is a modified version that says V: X.XX :(

ill try scouring the manual again :)

          Edit:
Manual says version 2.17.09 right at the bottom in size 3-4 print  ??? so ill try that one :)
