No Response from Computer on Start Up

Hi guys.  I have a "mutt" computer.  One that I peiced together, no particular brand.  It worked great until about a month ago.  Now, when you try to turn it on, the power light comes on, but the computer never boots up.  There are no error beeps.  Nothing happens.  It is getting frustrating.  I hate to start taking it apart without knowing what I am looking for.  Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't have an extra power supply.  I was thinking that it might be a problem with that, but I am not a professional tech guy so I didn't want to start taking things out without being sure what the problem might be.
