I believe Radeon's software is called Catalyst Control Center...
Includes speed controls.
But if it's running hot at stock your case cooling may need to be looked at...

Does your computer have an exhaust fan?

55C is 131F, which, isnt overly bad for a high performance card.

4870X2 runs very hot anyway. no matter how good your cooling is.
Your load temperatures are what you should be looking at though, not idle.

Did you edit your specs after my first post?  Didn't see your case in there yesterday.
Are you using the stock Antec Tricool fans in that 900?  Any special cooling on the card?
Those temperatures seem excellent to me.

yes sir  i forgot to put the case on there, and yes they are the fans that come with it..(2) 120's in the front,(1) on the side blowing in on the card,(1) on the back exhaust, and the big one on top pulling everything else out,,I love the case but i'm goining to get the 1200  because i'm going to crossfire these cards and just don't have enough room

I was after the 1200 originally ... just couldn't afford it in the end.
Great temperatures on your card, anyway, actually better than mine ... maybe you live in a cold area, or you have a modified graphics card cooler.
I'm jealous, heh, and not just of your temperatures.

Would love it myself ... haven't got any spare cash at the minute though.
I'm happy with my 8800GT anyway, I barely have time to game so it's hardly used as it is, the sole reason to upgrade would be to own a card that was actually the best at one point, and bragging rights (not that I have anyone to brag to).
Thanks for sharing the info on temps anyway.
