I went back to your original post, and you said:
Quote
so I rebooted to my PC start-up point
What exactly do you mean by that?

I rebooted to the position the PC was when bought (I get pop-ups for Norton Anti-Virus 2003 when I sign on, which I haven't installed). Guess that wasn't such a great idea now, lol. BTW, i'm told I have no audio mixers when I tried to troubleshoot in "Volume Control".

You restored the computer to its original state using what? Recovery CD, which came with the computer?

I just rebooted it to it's original state using the F10 trick Broni. Why shouldn't I take it somewhere AzNV ? Unless you just refer to "Geek Squads" ?

It may be less expensive to just buy a sound card and install it vs. paying them to fix it.

Maybe if I explain a few things about my system, it'll help, I have a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition & my Audio Adapter is Intel 82801DB ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-0]. Don't know if it`ll help much, but i'm trying to figure out what Audio Driver is most compatible with my system so I can get my missing sound back.  :) Oh, my Motherboard Name: TriGem Glendale & Motherboard Chipset: Intel Brookdale-G i845GL.  ;)

Youl'd be done by now with the above approach...
          20 - 30 Bucks.

Just tried to play a DVD, it plays, but no sound. If I decided to get a sound driver, would it work on any system/PC ?
