WORD 2002 - can't get a red wavy line!

Loaded Word2 for friend and set up template for his letters. It works well and identifies spelling mistakes with usual wavy red line. BUT when using it for normal doc's no red line. I have tried TOOLS, OPTIONS and the Spelling Tab then checked 'check spelling as you type'.
Have also tried deleting and reloading. Any ideas please?

You can reset the Users Word profile by deleting the following registry keys:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Word
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word

Then go back into Word, then it will recreate these keys.

Ash - thanks for suggestion, sounds like you know what you are doing but that only makes one of us! Please tell me how to get into the screen where I can find the bits you say I should change?
