My computer now randomly shuts down on its own from time to time. I am totally lost. System restore fails to accomplish anything in the fact that it wont let me go to a date farther back than yesterday. Also, I do not have the boot CD needed for a System recovery. I called gateway and they said there is a way to do it, but they charge outrageous prices. Do you know how? This problem started a few weeks ago and has been a major problem since. Most of the time the computer will be fine in safe mode. The only options under tools that I can view are Map Network Drive, Disconnect Network Drive, and Synchronize. I can't access hidden files in system 32. Plus, I cant access any websites that include hijakthis in the url. Also, I tried to access the registry editor but I get a window that says "The registry editor has been disabled by an administrator.
