Windows XP SP3 Defragmenting Problems...

Hello and good day, thanks for reading my topic. I seem to be having this problem with defragging my 40GB harddrive. When I tried to do my last monthly defrag, I started the app and pressed the defrag button and got this:

Error: Disk Defragmenter could not start.

I then installed a trail of Diskeeper 2009 Home Edition and Defraggler, both of which could not defrag, so I uninstalled them both. Could something actually be wrong with my harddrive, or some essential file? Oh, and I also have this HijackThis system log file, if that helps.

Actually your issue may be with the install of DisKeeper...although MS gobbled them up for awhile DisKeeper actually replaces the built in defrag in Windows when it's installed.
So un-installing it doesn't always restore Windows defrag as it should...
Do me a favor...
DLoad and install Auslogics Defrag (FREE) and after installing it power down and re-boot.
Then run Disk cleanup from the Accesories/Tools menu.
Then see if Auslogics runs...i bet it will.
