Colour Quality defaults back to 8 bit on startup
    « on: January 25, 2009, 04:45:10 AM »
    Hi All

My sons PC has just started to default back to 8 bit colour quality every time the PC boots up.

I have changed it back to 32 bit colour in the display properties dialog box and everything is fine.  But when the PC is rebooted the settings revert back to 8 bit.

I have uninstalled the Ge Force 8600GT video drivers and then reinstalled them to no effect.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the HP w1907v display drivers, also to no effect.

Virus check with latest avg Free - no problems found.

    Does anyone have any ideas.

    Thanks in advance

Everything was working fine up until a couple of days ago and my son has convinced me he has not changed anything!!

      Hi again

Sorry I omitted to mention the PC is running XP Pro.
