Improper frequency issue?
« on: January 26, 2009, 01:41:22 PM »
Hello,

I have a Sony PCV-1112 desktop computer with windows xp pro

recently the computer started shutting down and when I can finally get it to boot something, it goes into safe mode with the bios screen showing that the "last time the system booted there was improper frequency...."

I replaced the battery in the motherboard-nothing changed.

when I go to boot the computer I get a loud beep for about 6 seconds and then it pauses for another 6 seconds and beeps again.  this keeps repeating.  I cant get back to the bios screen.

What the !@$## is going on????

What other info do you need to help me out here??

If you are comfortable enough with opening your computer, leave the power plug IN but switch it off at the wall, this will provide a ground.

Reseat:
RAM
Graphics Card (if applicable)
Any other PCI cards.

If this does not help, try just the bare essentials.

Boot with only one RAM stick, no hard drives and onboard graphics if possible.
