NTDETECT.COM, BOOT.INI, and NTLDR on a floppy will create a boot disk that might be able to boot a XP installation with a bad or missing startup file, depending on what file is bad or missing.
But honestly that boot disk can't do anything you couldn't do with a XP installation disc.

But the important question here is what do you need a boot disk for? Because a boot disk can be many things.

(And please stop deleting your threads or I'm not going to bother answering any more of your questions. It makes helping you harder and makes it impossible for other people to learn from your questions.)

Thank you for getting back to me about the Boot disk.

About Telnet I was able to connect to my e mail.
open incoming.verizon.net 110      this command line did the job.

Now it says connecting   and then says  OK  and something like MESSAGING MULTIPLYER

and when I type LIST it tells me bad command why?
Is list the command for listting all e mails?

The boot floppy set (6) is available from MS's website...
It includes the Recovery Console which is the most important tool for getting out of trouble...depending on how extensively you've fubar'd the installation.

According to the info you provided ...yes.
As long as the Versions and installed Service Packs match you can use any matching XP CD.
The CD's are not tied to any machine...the COA is.

BTW installing the RC is an excellent idea and if more people did it on their machines our work here would be much much easier.....
