    re-insalling xp

    hi im tring to re install windows xp on a hardrive that was in another computer,and when i put the cd in i get a prompt to start when windows was working.. and a safe mode,it won't reconize the windows boot from cd,it says cd boot failure..how do i re format the hardrive to install windows xp..any help would be much appreciated..thank's Dave

    Sounds like you need a different XP CD.

      thank's for the reply..thr problem was with a cut in the ribbon going into the cd rom..changed the ribbon and it worked..thank's again....
