    Can't connect to web
    « on: February 18, 2009, 03:33:56 PM »
I am not sure if this issue is a hardware or browser issue.

I have a desktop PC that is using IE7 (hard wired) and a few laptops (wireless) connecting to my router. No problems until yesterday. The laptops can connect to the internet without a problem (though they are running IE6), but the desktop stopped working. I can ping several addresses and I can connect to the LAN, but IE7 just times out. I have reset the router and PC several times and I disabled wireless on one laptop and used the hard wire and connected fine so it appears the problem is with the desktop PC. I'm baffled that I can ping though to www.google.com for instance, but the browser hangs. I reset the IE7 settings back to the original settings too, but still the same.

Has anyone else experienced this or know of a solution?

    Thanks

Have you downloaded or installed anything new recently?

How are you pinging the sites? Command Prompt?

      Yes from the command prompt.

I think I have solved the problem. It appears my personal firewall was blocking IE7 traffic. Very strange.
