NVRAM error and slower booting sequence..
    « on: February 20, 2009, 05:34:12 PM »
I was playing a game as usual on my pc when it suddenly hang up and I had to reset. on restart, a message appeared that said(not quite sure about the exact text but it was something like this) :

     'NVRAM error, check settings'
     'press F1 to change settings'
'press F2 to reset  default settings'

so I went into BIOS setup and thought it might have to do with booting sequence . so I changed the first boot from Flobby to HDD and the second to the DVDRW then restarted. This time the PC hung up once it logged into windows and restarted itself again displaying the same error. So i changed the boot seq again to 1-DVDRW followed by 2-HDD . That didnt help either as the pc also hung up n restarted upon entering windows xp.

In the third boot I pressed F2 to reset to default settings which actually worked( no hang up on xp startup) and the pc is running fine now although there is a 3-4 seconds delay befor it reaches xp . The delay is right between checking the DVDRW and displaying windows xp loading screen. The PC shows a flashing dash for 3-4 seconds then it moves to the loading screen.

So what could have caused this? and should i do to remove the delay?..

Unplug everything from your computer, but keyboard, and a mouse.
    Restart. Same thing?
