    dell dimension hard drives
    « on: February 22, 2009, 03:52:51 PM »
I have just been given a S/H Dell Dimension 4500 computer and I notice that this has two hard drives.

My question is how to access these two hard drives because only one the c: appears to be accessible.

one drive is a Maxtor 37 GB with unused and the other is WDC with189GB unused and it is this second drive that I cannot access..............

I guess this is quite a simple question but I don't want to change too many settings.

Obviously it would be great to use all that space....................

The operating system is Windows XP

Does it boot to XP ? ?
If so right click My Computer and select Manage...then Disk Management...
Find the WD drive )probably D: ) and right click it and select Properties...
    Report back with your findings.

    It may just be empty.

If you can't access it, how do you know how much unused space is on it?   ???   ::)
