    upgrading memory
    « on: February 24, 2009, 08:18:27 PM »
I am installing 1G memory upgrade int a HP Pavillion a620n.  The memory is a Kingstgon 1GB DDR PC2700 333 MHz.  I am getting the error "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter".  According to the install info, I removed the memory and rebooted and am getting the same error.  I've dusted the components but am still receiving the error.  HELP

You might try installing the new memory without the old installed.....if the new memory works without the old, the modules may not be compatible.

Double check all your drive connectors...you may have dislodged one placing the RAM...

I've tried that.  It was also suggested to pull the small round battery out for 10-15 minutes and then reboot.  I did that with the 1G only installed - no luck.....am trying it again reinstalling only the original 512K

Travel to Crucial.com to see if you have purchased the correct memory...all RAM is not equal.

Sounds like you, inadvertently unplugged your hard drive. Check it again, just to make sure.

Did you ground yourself before installing the RAM?
