Unfortunately it was a well itentioned friend who also doesn't have much computer knowledge that was loaded spybot and ran the scans.
Hi Broni,
From what I can gather there was just general stuff found like cookies. No major threats. My virus protection is AVG and I run regular scans. Having not used spybot before I can only guess at to what I am typing, but the items that were found were "treated"
(not sure if that's the right word).
Once my laptop began to slow down my friend then removed spybot by uninstalling it.
I'm not sure if they did the right thing as now that I'm beginning to look into it shouldn't they have gone back and somehow reversed or taken those items out of quarantine (if that's how they removed the cookies) before uninstalling the program?
??
As there was no improvement in speed once the program was removed I myself went back and performed a system restore to a previous date when it was operating perfectly.
Thanks
