Moniter issues.

Hi, I'm totally stumped on a problem I'm having with a pc I've rebuilt.
(New mobo and heatsink)

1st When I plug my vga connector into the blue vga slot on the mother board the monitor turns from "No signal" to black screen.

I used to run the vga cord into the back of the video card on the old set up.
So I tried this again once I found out I cant get video to display from blue vga slot on the new mobo.

It worked using a 29/15 pin converter that came with the video card.
This lasted about 5 days before I turned on the pc one morning and the screen was black again.

*I thought it might have  been the monther board that burned out or something so I replaced it with brand new one and still got the same result.So I returned the new mother board and re installed the old one.

*no pins are bent on the plug.

So I replugged in the monitor to my old pc and have been using it ever since.. (about a year ago)



Why cant I just plug the monitor into the vga slot on the mobo? (15-15 pin)

Why wont it work any more going though my video card? (29-15pin)

Thx in advance to anyone that replies. I really could use some advice.

If you have a video card plugged in there is a 99% chance your on board won't work 

As for the screen going black, this is normal, the only thing it checks for really is any type of grounding from the connection, and switches to standby. It does not mean the monitor is getting a signal from the computer itself.

Try booting with just the CPU, one RAM stick, no hard drives and no add on cards, if it still does not boot correctly, try the other RAM stick(s) (Where applicable of course)

If it does boot, start adding components one at a time until you find your faulty equipment

Yes, I tried that with no luck.Just a black screen.

I definitely have power. The pc will start from me pressing the switch on the front of the case.
I dont get any power in the lights on my keyboard when I plug it in.
When I plug my mouse in it lights for a split second then nothing.

I'm beginning to think that I smoked my cpu?
