Slower CPU into faster motherboard?
« on: March 16, 2009, 07:04:47 AM »
I have a laptop motherboard (FIC A360+) with a 133MHz bus.   This motherboard has no adjustment jumpers.
I also have a spare Intel P3 CPU rated at 1GHz on a 100MHz bus, compatible voltage and form factor (1.75v and socket-370).

Can I safely put this slower CPU into the faster motherboard?  If so, will the CPU continue to run at 10 times the bus speed and hence perform at 1330MHz?  Are there any issues here I should be aware/warned about?

Thanks in anticipation for any helpful responses!

It should be ok. but not too sure why would you want to do that...

But no. it will not run at 10 times the bus speed. (I think)
Please do not call your computer stupid when it breaks or lags. Computers can only do what they are programmed to. and thus, often it is the user that is stupid. GET MY DRIFT?

It may run at the new bus speed, been awhile since I've done that ;)
