A cry...
« on: May 03, 2005, 04:38:10 PM »
Hi all,

A friend of mine has an integrated PC made by VIA Tech. ...the problem is that
games ,even old ones, run tooo slow -sometimes they don't
work at all though the specs of his PC are not that bad...i mean they can handle a couple of neat games like
Hitman 1 or MaxPayne 1...anyway,i want to know if there is any way
to improve performance of this PC...like drivers' update or something(if you can provide
me a direct link,it will be great)...

i have taken these specs from the device manager of the PC:

-VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (Sound Device).

-VIA Tech VT8361/VT8601 Graphic Controller 4.13.01.3111 (Display Device).

processor,RAM, and OS :

-GenuineIntel celeron 1.2 G.H.

-256 MB of RAM.

-windows ME.

By the way,if he installed an older version of DirectX ,would that improve the performance of the PC?

thanks,,

If he installed an older version of direct X? I don't think so...  Has your friend scanned for viruses and Spyware? Also, what about updating his video card drivers? Has he tried running a Windows Update and installing all updates?

But you DID search for a video drivers right? No better match? Also, have him run teh Windows Update on http://www.microsoft.com ... It can make a big difference!  ;)  Also, its not the windows version... It's the drivers and fixes that the update gives you...

You mean you couldn't find a more updated version, or that there are NO drivers that the manufacturer will provide at all? This is strange...

Be careful with Microsoft update, it may suggest video drivers (certified) which are way out of date.
If I accepted the Microsoft advice on video drivers they would be 18 months older than the current ones.

So why don't we just go to the manufacturer's website?  ???
