    ok changed ide cable now dvd drives not working lol

    It does no good to run it under Win7...do any of the other OS's boot ? ?

      yes they all boot and im on media center 2005 now still no dvd drives any help would be helpfull thanks

        oh and as far as i know i hooked it up correctly pretty straight forward

        Hook up only one...how are the jumpers set ? ?

                ok well things are getting really strange . let me see if i can explain this .so if i create a guest account but start out on regular account. hit ctrl alt delete to get windows to respond .then log into guest account everything seems to work right .which i have know idea why but makes me think now that it is software not hardware can anyone give me any ideas please

                  thank you patio for your reply that could very well be my problem.do you think that all accounts on three different drives could get corrupted one right after the other and if so how virus perhaps ?. if so wouldnt avg have recognized it once again thanks

                    one other thing i think i mentioned i reinstalled windows on one hard drive the one im on right now actually so why would that account be instantly corrupt and why isnt the one im on right now. and i have restarted several times and it still works as long as i go through the same procedure i explained before would hate to recreate profile just to find im still screwed lol
