    Just replaced CMOS Battery
    « on: March 23, 2009, 05:01:54 PM »
    Hi,
I have just replaced the CMOS Battery in my Grandaughters pc, but I did not check any of the CMOS settings. Now when I switch the computer on, I keep getting the Virtual Memory Low warning.  If I go into the BIOS, and set the default values, would this correct any errors, as apart from the virtual memory low, a lot of the programs are not responding at all.  Thanks.

Did you get this error before you replaced the CMOS bat?

Replacing the CMOS battery usually has nothing to do with Virtual Memory.

        Hi,
Actually, I was asked to have a look at the pc,as it would not switch on at all. I first thought of the fuse in the mains lead, but this was okay. As the pc is nearly 8 years old I just replaced the CMOS Battery, I do not know of any previous errors. Thanks

          Hi,
Thanks.  Windows version is XP Home Edition. I have tried changing the virtual memory, but it does not make any differance.

The CMOS shouldn't be causing this, you may just have a slowdown with the CPU or not enough RAM

Let's get some info on the machine...
And check how much free space you have on your hard drive also...
