read Cd drive from another?
« on: May 03, 2005, 11:19:16 AM »
Hope this doesn't sound too thick!
I have an old laptop which is using windows98 and only a floppy drive. I want to load some software which is on CD ROM, can I link to my PC which runs windows ME?
If so, how?

Thanks

Not that I know of... It would be better for you just to buy an external CD ROM drive, and then you will always have it... You can link the computers, but I don't think you can share CD drives...

Can you share drives like that over a network? I know that you can share HD's, but I never heard of CD Drives...

You can share CD, Hard, Floppy, USB, internal, external, even camera media over a network.  No problem.

If you don't already have the network items it would be cheaper to buy a CD drive for the 98 computer.

That is true.. Networking requires more time, effort, and hardware...
