Vista being slow
« on: March 31, 2009, 12:05:15 AM »
I'm not too experienced with computers, & my Vista system is being very slow. Often programs will just freeze up, including explorer. Sometimes I'm just stuck with the waiting sign when logging in, & usually the screen will just lock up, I can't click the start button or any icons or the toolbar.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Delete files that you don't need anymore so that you can save disk space. Try using your disk cleanup so that unnecessary files will be removed and last is disk defragmenter. If this doesn't work try upgrading your ram. Let's say if it is 512 try using 1 gig maybe this would help.

    Please, post some computer info:
    - processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
    - hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
    - security programs in use (antivirus, firewall)

If you dont know DOS, you dont know Windows...

Thats why Bill Gates created the Windows NT Family.
