Iphone
« on: April 01, 2009, 03:55:40 PM »
Hi guy's/girl's, I have an Iphone that used to be recognised by my computer but now for some reason my computer no longer recognises it. It just says 'unknown USB device' please re-attach or replace. I'm using itunes obviously and have tried there FAQ's but to no joy. There is no option for re-installing drivers if that is even a problem... I'm using Vista pro home 36. I have installed Daemon tools and Scummvm over the last couple of days but Norton and Malwarebytes say there is nothing wrong with either. Cluching at straws but want to give you a full picture. Thanks in advance

Just in case those two things u downloaded did affect drivers or some other necessary component, try a system restore to before all of this happened.

Programs? Yes.  Files? No.  If you are afraid to do that at this point, give us some more information. Computer make/model/windows version/etc.

We're talking System Restore , NOT System Recovery.

I was making sure you were aware, because if you do a system recovery thinking that was what was suggested, you would lose data- and we wouldn't want that :)

Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.

Choose a date from before you had this issue.

Big problem.. 'system restore did not complete succesfully' files and settings were not changed. Details.... An unspecified error ocurred during restore. This happens every time I try to restore anything. Windows Vista 36 Pre home. 170gb hd, 2g ram. All systems seem go.. but something is wrong.

"System restore did not complete succesfully' files and settings were not changed"

This message simply means that you are not able to go backwards to that specific time point, and your computer has not changed at all.

If you have a second PC, I would try it there to see if same issue appears...

Take the screen of your computer and plug it into the other one you smashed

It's a laptop mate. The re-charge port was damaged as well. It's dead.

Thanks for the advice guy's but changing my pc is not solving the problem is it?? We could tell everybody on this site the same thing 'try a different pc' not really helping just an easy way out it seems. Help to solve the problem on this pc would be appreciated. cheers

changing a pc would let you know if it were something wrong with your ipod wouldn't it? That would eliminate one thing --- the potentiality that your iphone is somehow malfunctioning.

I had a device work on a pc, all of a suddent started not working right but when I took it to a new computer, there appeared to be same issue so it wasn't that my computer was going funny.

Uninstall itunes then re-install solved the issue. Not sure why but I tried it and it worked a treat.
