    Different Spyware Packages
    « on: April 01, 2009, 05:02:16 PM »
I suppose l get a bit wary regarding spyware/malware but could someone let me know about the different packages.
At the mo l'm running Pctools Spyware Doctor. It does the biz and l'm quite happy with it. I then run Xoftspyse, which is "supposed" to be one of the best, and it says l have 92 errors. Spybots Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes also throw up different results.
I'll stick with PCTools because l'm paying for it, but why all the differencies between this and other packages. Sooooooo confusing!

Xoftspyse is a load of bull. They use tactics that are very questionable. They try to scare users into buying and it is total nonsense.

I have a lot of suggestions on my blog and they are all free solutions. Don't buy anything without checking the web ratings from WOT, which is also free and I suggest you install now.

WOT - Web of Trust. WOT is a free Internet security addon for your browser. It will keep you safe from online scams, identity theft, spyware, spam, viruses and unreliable shopping sites. WOT warns you before you interact with a risky website. It's easy and it's free.

Check out Keeping Yourself Safe On The Web for tips and free tools to help keep you safe in the future.

Also see Slow Computer? It May Not Be Malware for free cleaning/maintenance tools to help keep your computer running smooth.

Use only trusted security software like the programs listed on this page. Trusted security tools & resources

If you want a manual spyware/trojan/makware checker for a 2nd opinion, A-Squared Free or Malware Bytes Antimalware may do just fine. Both do update every day. Nothing's automatic if you're using the free editions but they do what they say.

A - Squared is 0x64. Not sure why you need a program to tell you that.   :P
