bear in mind that the moment windows boots it replaces all in memory BIOS interrupts with 32-bit protected mode versions; the BIOS nowadays is only used to get past the POST.

describe the freezing- any particular point where it freezes? Detecting the drives, counting RAM, etc.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

I shall check if the chip is replaceable, many thanks for the hint.

    I believe it is.

Probably a good idea to avoid damage...

No, I didn't try this type of test, but I used another program for hard drives checking
( I cannot remember it's name now) and the result was OK.Anyway, now I have 2 hard
drives and the problem is present with both or even with them individually connected.
It is not a permanent problem, it appears from time to time.

Anyway, I can try it also. Thanks for advice.

        Hello everybody!
I'm thinking that you are curious what happened...
I flashed the BIOS( the good version) and the procedure went smoothly. After that, I cleared the CMOS, restarted the PC and reinstalled Windows and the last drivers for all components( Windows XP Professional with SP2).After that, I expected one week to have something to tell you.My PC is still working very weird:

1)My both hard disks are not listed in "Disk Management" from "Computer Management".Both are properly detected by POST and Windows Explorer. What's this???

2)My USB ports are still a problem. So, I disconnected the cable for the front ports and disabled from BIOS all onboard ports( including rear ports).Aditionally, I have a PCI/USB adapter which has four external USB ports. My internet connection is made by an USB modem connected in one of the PCI/USB adapter ports and, as you can see, is working properly. But in the moment when I'm inserting a flash drive ( pen drive) in the same USB port, I'm getting the message: "Power Surge on Hub Port...", OR the pen drive figured as connected but nothing is appearing in My Computer!!!

If somebody will ask me if I have IRQ conflicts, I shall respond: I do not know!Because no conflicts are listed, but, at the same time, I have four components which are sharing two IRQ.

Can somebody understand something from this mess?

I think you may have a faulty motherboard.

I'm going to tell that to my vendor.
