Default Line Spacing in Publisher 07
    « on: April 08, 2009, 08:19:30 AM »
I have a very large Publisher document. A few months back, I changed the default font, but the line spacing also changed, even though I did not change it. I cannot figure out how to change the line spacing of the entire document! So since then I change the line spacing one page at a time as I am working on it. Very time consuming!

How do I change the line spacing for the entire document? How do I make a DEFAULT line spacing for the entire document?

I have Publisher 2007 (part of Office 2007) but haven't used it much. What type of document are you working on? How are you changing line spacing, by using the Line Spacing button on the Formatting menu?

      I am writing a booklet.

Each page is a large text box of written or imported text.

I HIGHLIGHT the TEXT inside the text box, open FORMAT, open PARAGRAPH, then change line spacing.  But it only works on the highlighted portion of the text I selected.  There is no option that says "Apply to entire document" or words like that.

I don't see a LINE SPACING listed in the FORMAT menu list?

Sorry, the button is on the Formatting toolbar, not the menu.  It looks like this:

But, I believe you should be able to do it through the menu, too. This may help:

        AHA!  Didn't even know that.

Yes, it opens the same box that I've been using.

I've gone thru the MS Office help pages too.  No luck yet at finding the answer yet.

        I am writing a booklet.

"Booklet" isn't one of the "Publication Types" listed in Publisher.  Below is a partial list of what appears on the left side of a newly opened Publisher window.

So, again, exactly what type of template are  you using for your booklet?

Sorry, I didn't understand the question.

I am not using any template.  Simply 8.5 X 11 single pages.

I am not using any template.  Simply 8.5 X 11 single pages.

I believe that means you would select "Blank Page Sizes", under Publication Types, and  then select the 8.5 x 11 size if you were starting a new document. Anyway, I believe the solution may be to create a Style or modify an existing Style to set line spacing at 2 lines.  Then, by applying that Style to your document, I believe the selected spacing will be applied to the whole document.  Styles can be saved and applied to new documents.

That's really all I can suggest. Since I really haven't used Publisher much, I don't think I can be of more assistance.  But, Styles appears to be work the same in Publisher as in Word, and I believe using Styles may be a solution for you.
