Windows XP Problem
« on: April 06, 2009, 10:19:45 AM »
When I went to restart my computer Friday, it would process through, show my icons on the deskstop and then abruptly freeze and show the following message:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.

Disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.  Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

I did not load any new hardware and I do remember cancelling out of some application when it started loading but I don't remember what it was.  Is this some kind of virus?  When running in safemode my scans and spyware programs won't run.  I also tried to go back to my previous settings but that won't work either.

Where can I go to see everything on my computer and when it was loaded?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    This may be a Pagefile issue.

    Control Panel ->Properties ->System->Advanced->Performance Settings->Advanced->Virtual Memory->Change

    Make sure System managed is checked.

    If it is , change it to the min/max. listed.
