Have you looked at the minimum requirements for these games?

I know a lot of those games are CPU intensive.  I would recommend spending a bit more if you can on the CPU.  Also, the core 2 duo is a much better processor if you can afford the upgrade.  Even if you get a lower end c2d, it could help.

You should be fine on RAM with 2 GB to start, especially with XP.   Also, that is a lot of hard drive space.  You could cut one of those out to save money and buy a better cpu/video card.  Also, I don't think you will need a sound card for a budget pc.  Most users only get those when buying a really good computer.  For a budget pc, the onboard sound should be fine.

Mate I understand what your saying but you seem to know your stuff so buy a game that suits!! It really is that simple. I would love COD5 on my pc but I was wise enough to buy it on my ps3. I just think your pushing buttons..

Ok, The reason I want a new PC to play the latest games is because a friend of mine is opening an Online Server [later on]. And i don't really want to be left behind still playing GTA San Andreas. And I am not pushing buttons whatever that means :P

          P.S: I also have GTA4 on ps3 ;)

            Look here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Yep, that is a useful link to have... although this one is easier to remember - http://www.canyourunit.com

I'd say a processor upgrade would be nice for you but is not necessary, but you would get a lot more benefit from a new graphics card and another 2gb of ram...

That is true in general.  The main reason I recommended the extra CPU power is b/c a lot of the games he listed are CPU intensive.  I noticed when playing COD and L4D that the FPS is very dependent on the CPU and not as much on the video card / Ram.

If you'll be able to run the games it won't be on a high settings.

8400GS is a terrible gaming card. I would get at least a 9500GT or something better. 9500GT runs Age of Empires 3 level games fine, WOW is fine but.... anyway....

                  5500FX runs AOE3 fine.

heck I got a MX2 running it properly too. Lower resolution, perhaps, but playable.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
