You said you wanted the google toolbar gone, the easiest way to remove this is:
Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs
And you should be able to uninstall the Google Toolbar.
Anything else you don't want should also be removable from there as well. If you want to keep certain programs, but you don't want them to load when your computer boots, you need to remove their startup entry. You can ask the people here, I'm sure they'd be happy to teach you how to disable them at startup, if you don't already know.
A stock installation of windows comes with several programs already listed for booting on startup, such as explorer.exe and winlogon.exe. Files such as these, and many others are core system files, and you should not be worried about having too many as long as they are programs you actually want, or the system needs them to run. That is, unless it is affecting your computer's speed.
