    norton ghost
    « on: April 10, 2009, 02:49:11 AM »
Hi, I have used for a few years now with success Norton Ghost 10, 2003, but for the last few days I have to keep uninstalling and re-installing to get it to work. It keeps repeating Product License expired, so I went to the website and downloaded their repair advice but it makes no difference and I cannot recover my bcak-ups unless I get the thing to work. Any ideas, and no I cannot email as they keep refering me to a repair system, thanks for any help! :-\

Hi, so what your saying is if the license is up I can no longer use it, even though I bought the disc at that time?

I have a copy of Ghost which I've installed several different times.  It asks if I want to register the product (which I did, a long time ago) but never has told me that its license is expired.

Do we mean Ghost, or Norton Antivirus?

Ghost is not an anti-virus program...it's a backup App.

Some programs make you buy a new license each year so you might want to check with Norton and see if they do.

          Ghost does not...

Have you tried re-installing Ghost and before running it creating a brand new bootable rescue CD/floppy ? ?

Hi Patio, thanks for the info, but I must admit I have never created a rescue bootable rescue CD of anything?

You don't necessarily have to - I've used ghost without the recovery disk - I looked through the guide which Patio referenced, and it looks to be well written and informative.

The full procedure is not that tough...and you should have one for emergencies...it's spelled out pretty clearly in the link.

I've been looking through that guide because Ghost let me make a backup image to my laptop's DVD r/w once it gave me the option to install USB 1.1 drivers.  Now I'm trying to perform a restore, and the USB 1.1 option is greyed out and not selectable.

Depending on the version it may need USB 2.0...
