Any Recommendations For Free Web Based Proxies?
    « on: April 12, 2009, 07:44:46 PM »
I have been using various web based proxies to post on a website.
In the last month it has become frustrating to be on there because of some technical problems.

Specifically I go onto the web proxy website, type in the website I am trying to access, no problems.
I then login in with user name and the problems start...what will happen is it will take awhile to load and then reboot back to the web proxy page.

This or if I am able to login...when I browse the website I will be logged out and have to re login in several times.

Do you have web proxies you can recommend I put on my list?

If you are trying to login through a proxy, then you have obviously been banned from going to certain sites. Therefore, we cannot help you bypass bans - they are in place for a reason. Forum Rules.

Anyway, you should never login through a web-based proxy as they can often be phishing sites.

There is a network of trustworthy proxies, and there are new ones about every week or so, if you go to PEACEFIRE.ORG and sign up for their mailing list, you can get updates for each new proxy.

Oh get off your high horse.
You make it sound like it's "so immoral" to login to a site you've been banned from.
Like just because some "moderator" decided to use their power to take out somebody they disagreed with means I shouldn't go back.

Then what are rules for exactly? And, leave the attitude outside the door please.

        Actually, yes it does.

If you really want to go back there and  the reason was simply the moderator abusing their power  then you can e-mail the administrator of the site.

going through a proxy will just get them banned again, likely by the same moderator until the admin steps in and tells the mod to grow up.

It's not Immoral; however this is on a public forum and the same information can be used by Spammers and people circumventing country-wide censorship (the latter of which would be a good thing but also illegal).

Additionally, I cannot really think of a legitimate reason to surf the web anonymously, unless it is to circumvent some restriction. (again, not necessarily immoral to circumvent it but often illegal (in the case of government-controlled bans).

huh, I didn't even realize BluesCountry was the OP.

If the case is that a Mod banned you in disagreement I would contact the administrator, and tell them the situation. Hopefully you can at least get the ban lifted, so you down have to go putzing about with proxies.

Wow I didn't realize what high horse preachers some of you were.

Listen....this isn't some question of "good" versus "evil".
Banning is subjective, why don't you people get with the "real world" and quit the "choir boy" "preachy" act ok?

          People get banned.  It happens.
In my case I didn't get along with a moderator, I petitioned and got no answer, got a new name, and was banned when it was discovered it was an old account.

If you people want to demonize this as being unworthy of posting, man you need a knock off your high horse, but otherwise if people have some help please offer.
          Thanks.

          that would work pretty good.

I've never used a proxy, that I recall. Although I did once have to remove a malicious proxy setting from malware, that changed my proxy to Localhost to deny me access. I didn't even realize it because at the time I was experimenting with Personal Web Server in such as way that it ended up acting like a router. I did notice it was slower though, and eventually I was messing about with internet options and noticed that IE had it's proxy set to Localhost...

What this has to do with anything I'm not sure.

Actually, I was on a high horse once, but long story short the building structure placed the rafters level with my forehead. I will always remember that as the year I missed.
