The site is written in PHP that runs on the server.

Which is also what my site runs on! (SMF + Joomla + WordPress)

What's HTNL ?   Huh?

That's what I say. If anybody wants to study it, I am one the many that will say forget HTML. Others may  say it is fundamental. I say so is basket weaving.

Forget HTML in what context?

I don't entirely disagree, but HTML might also be viewed as a fundamental.  Better ways to code may have come along in the last few years, but if you can code in HTML, you can at least "put up" a basic web page.

Sorry to crash the wedding here, but HTML is necessary, no matter what kind of site you're building. If it isn't, then what do we use?

sure, I think HTML is necessary. I think even if you were to say --- use flash -- to design your website and make it interavtive wouldn't you need to insert your website code within some html "frame" to get it to work?

vB forums have a [noparse] tag that works really well for trying to show how BB code works, and would work well in this situation too.

You can't write in BB Code...that's just for posting on forums. BB code is just so unexperience people don't have to write all their HTML...and also so malicious code can't be put on...like a meta refresh to a shock site...

Yes.

Do any of you even have an idea of how many files make up this forum, without modifications?
