    pc games locking up / stop responding

    I've recently built a new pc with windows vista, everytime I've tried to install and play a new game on the pc it starts up and then it locks up and i've got to go into task manger to end it b/c it stops responding.  Need help

    Need to know the full computer specs and games you're experiencing this with.

      windows vista ultimate
      2.8 intel quad core
      4gb mem
      9600 gt

      happens to any game I install...
      prison tycoon4
      some childerns games for my son(dont remember off hand)

      Well, you certainly meet the system requirements of Prison Tycoon 4, and it says it runs on Vista.

      First, open the device manager and see if there are any yellow '!' marks next to anything there, just to check that all of your device drivers are installed properly.

      (To open the device manager in Vista, either right click on 'Computer' and select 'Properties', or go to Control Panel -> System, then click 'Device Manager')
