I wanted to point out, formatting the drive may not work if the partition isnt created.. it sounds like the partition was erased if you cant format it, I deleted the partition on my creative zen mp3 player, since i used NT fdisk.exe wasnt available and the other freeware i tryed didnt work either, but you might try partition magic anyways i found success by keeping the device turned on and plugged into a usb port during bootup, i loaded the windows installation from the cd again, during installation the zen player showed up in the partition screen, so i created the partition on the mp3 player.. MAKING SURE TO LEAVE THE WINDOWS PARTITION ALONE AND INTACT, then restarted to windows and then tryed formatting it to FAT, and it worked.. so you could try that.
