    windows vista
    « on: April 25, 2009, 12:44:08 PM »
I bought a new computer(Dell 530) and it came with windows vista which I absolutely hate after only 2 weeks. Can I install Windows xp in place of vista and what problems, if any, might I cause. Thank you

Travel to Dell's site and enter your Service tag #  and see if XP drivers are available for all devices...
If so you should be good to go...

You can add win xp if you shrink the hard drive partition and then add xp to the new partition. That way you have both systems called a dual boot. At start up you can choose which to go with for that session.

Vista takes time to get used to and I'm sure after a while you will find its not as bad as it seems at 1st.

If you have a xp CD then you can just do a clean install if you have to erase Vista, here are the instructions for that:

    http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

If you want to do as I proposed then go here:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/resize-a-partition-for-free-in-windows-vista/

and then install xp to the new drive space (partition)

Without Drivers this is a moot point....he should check that first.

why don't you check it for him?  :P (just kidding)

I will put my money on that it goes either way.

Go ahead and check it 1st though grandpa71 at this link:

If you can't find the service tag number you can identify it here:
