My first problem I cannot fix myself
    « on: May 01, 2009, 06:17:37 PM »
Hi all. I have never had a problem I couldnt figure out in windows. Until today. Recently, I was searching for files and couldnt find them. Thought I may have deleted them. After 3 days, I realized that my computer cannot find anything that is newer than 10/11/2008. Any file I have created, downloaded, etc, comes up no items found. Even if I search for something I downloaded to my desktop 10 minutes ago. When I do a search by date, newer than 10/12/08, search yielded no results. It is a Vista machine. Any ideas???

Any file I have created, downloaded, etc, comes up no items found.

Can you navigate to the file using Windows Explorer?

    Run the System File Checker

    click Start

    * click All Programs, then Accessories

    * right click on the Command Prompt option,

    * on the drop down menu which appears, click on the Run as Administrator option.

    * In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow,

    * press Enter.

    * You will see "the system scan will begin".

if the system file checker finds any errors you will need the Vista DVD to repair them.

PC time settings are correct and have never been changed.

      Try with these parameters:

      Quote
      before:date

      before:10/9/2007

Finds items whose PrimaryDate field contains a date before 10/9/2007.

      after:date

      after:10/9/2007

Finds items whose PrimaryDate field contains a date after 10/9/2007.
