right click in intrnt expl. wont open new window

I have used microsoft internet explorer forever and i use the right click menu to open some things in a new window.

One day I sign on and I right click and click "open in new window" and it will not work!!!

I have IE 6.0 with the service pack 2 downloaded by microsoft. I have tried to uninstall the service pack, clear the cookies, temp. internet files, and the history.

I HAVE TO FIX THIS!!  I NEED HELP!!

 kris..... did this issue begin as soon as you installed SP2 ?
Are you using XP ?

Are you able to click on the link and have it open ?

When you right click on the link and choose "open in new window" do you get any sort of message ?

I am am using Windows XP with the service 2 pack. I installed it a long time ago. That's the only thing I can think of (as well as others on the net) that is causing the problem. I used to open new windows all the time, then one day, it wouldn't work. I click open new window and it highlights the link as if it were going to open a new window, but nothing happens. I can click on a link and it opens a window on top on another one. (so i have to click the back button, if I want to go back, instead of closing the new window).

The open new window works in AOL, but I hate having to sign onto AOL when it's faster to use Explorer.

I have an anti-virus program and I ran that. I ran a spyware program and cleaned out all the internet files.

Have you checked your settings under
Tools>Internet Options>Advanced in IE?

Could this be something that is controlled by the site you're at rather than your browser?

 kris........ I was just looking in the control panel .......if you click folder options ....under general tab .......see if open in a new window is ticked .

Reset your Internet settings to their default status.

Follow these steps:

1. Go to Start
2. Configuration
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Click on the Advanced tab.
6. Click on the 'Default settings' button.

Go to Start / Run
Then enter regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Click Ok when finished

Hey I'm having the same problem with my internet explorer, everytime I try to bring up a new browser, it just closes out my old browser.  I tried reseting my internet settings to default, but it didnt work, whats going on?
