    computer wont launch programs
    « on: May 09, 2009, 09:01:50 AM »
    I am using windows xp.

when I click on any of my desktop icons the programs won't open.  I have an error message from mcafee "computer not fully protected", i click on fix this, and I get an error message "unable to repair"

do i have a virus or something?

      okay, thanks.
I went to the suggested webpage and it asks me to go to my system to discern latest software updates/programs/os.

Unfortunately, my computer will not let me open any links.  is there another way to get system information beyond the icons (that won't open)?

      thanks!

This is pretty common McAfee error (one of the reasons to get rid of McAfee).\
The only way to fix it is to reinstall McAfee, but you make sure, you use Add\Remove first, then McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool: http://majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html
