May tip of the month question?
    « on: May 12, 2009, 12:05:03 PM »
How do I know if my computer has a multiple core processor or not?  Since I have a 2002 Dell Dimension 4500, I will assume that it does not have the Intel Core 2.

In fact I think it is a Pentium 4 chip if that makes any sense.  Is there any way to speed up the boot time on these older computers?

Sir, I can see the pause/break key but where is the "Windows" key located?

Also what will this do for me or show me?

It will show you if you have a single core or dual core processor, like you had asked.

Not much you can do to speed up the Pentium 4. There are some things you can do to reduce the Windows XP load time.
Buy a new, better hard drive. Put in you computer and do a full install of Windows XP. Then install only the programs you really need and use. The boot time will be much better when you are done.

Get you data off of the old drive. Make it a slave drive.
