    What Ram do I need?
    « on: June 09, 2009, 01:19:00 PM »
    Good afternoon,

I am thinking about more RAM for my older computer but don't know how to find what I need.

My computer "properties" are  AMD Athlon 1700+      1.47 Ghz     256Mb RAM
    My OS is XP.

What should I get to upgrade the Ram and where?  Any help, as usual, would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks
    Samp

Run the scan at Crucial.com to see what you need.

Is this for a laptop or a desktop?  The best place IMHO to buy ram is newegg.com.  They have great deals and carry all main stream types of ram.   There may be cheaper sites but the reputation and service from newegg.com is top notch.

You're most welcome...of course once you know what you need you can shop around....memory is quite reasonable these days, and there are deals to be had.

Newegg and TigerDirect both have memory configurators so you can do the same on their websites and priceout memory....Newegg has an additional 15% off for 48 hours.
