Possible Dns problem
« on: June 04, 2009, 10:53:05 AM »
I have a 4 year old computer running on Windows XP.  I went to use the internet and firefox has some updates, but was unable to complete.  The internet was not working, tried internet explorer and firefox.  I even hard wired to cable and still nothing, I have other computers and they are working fine.  After calling around and doing a system restore as of two weeks ago, still nothing.  Cable company had me ping yahoo , no reply then had me ping yahoos ip address and after 5 min it finished loading.

Someone suggested a virus, but I don't know which one.

Also have been told to re format hard drive, but if I back up all my data files, and it is a virus will I still have problems?
