Weird problem with monitor and cdrom drive
« on: May 16, 2005, 08:38:29 PM »
hi again

with all the trouble ive been having with my old computer its frustrating enough. I'm not gonna get a new one for six months so I have to make this one last. Last night I was formatting my hard drive like I have done before and installing dos cdrom drivers for my cd drive so I can install an operating system. Well i tried installing the drivers and it said mis connection so i checked the connection and it was loose so I fixed it but I still got the error so I restarted my computer but the monitor wouldnt show anything even though the rest of my computer would start. I disconnected the cd rom and lo and behold the monitor worked when I turned it on but now the cd drive isnt hooked up. What can I do?

system:
no operating system (formatted hard drive, i use a boot disk to get into dos)
packard bell force101cd
200mhz
40mb. ram

p.s. this has never happened before
