what type of operating system is unix?

Please can anyone tell me what type of operating system unix is ?? I mean..is it
1)pre-emptive
2)non-preemptive
3)batch

which of the above types does unix belog to...????

any help is much appreciated...

What does pre-emptive mean?  What's the difference between pre-emptive, non pre-emptive, and batch?
