I have a problem activating my product!
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:07:25 PM »
Two days ago I formated my PC because of infected files.
After I installed my Windows XP SP3, also I installed Microsoft office 2003, and the problem is that I can not activate it because it tells me this:

"Your software cannot be activated because the Product key you installed with is not valid".

It suggests me to uninstall the office and install again but the result is the same.
It was genuine  before i formated my PC and I used the same product key.
I can not understand the reason so please help me how to fix this problem.

P.S. I visited the site of Microsoft to get more help and also i tried to make my office genuine and the result was negative.
Cheers.

call microsoft and explain what's going on.

Oh product key is probably not valid because you might have used it too many times.

If you have used to more than 3 times just explain to them that you needed to format and office is only installed on 1 computer. (Assuming it is only installed on one computer.  ;) )

I had the same issue and the tech was very understanding and reactivated my product. I also asked him to remove the older instances of my activation so if i had to reformat and he did.

    Good luck.

      I fixed the problem.
As I explained before i could not activate the office 2003, so i decided to reformat the PC again.
After that the first thing i installed was Windows XP SP2, I activated it. The second thing was installation of Office 2003 and I tried to activate it, which was successfully.
So after the reformat of my PC I did activated both of windows products.
I have a question: why did that happened before the PC reformat, I mean why I could not activate the office 2003?

      Cheers.

I'm not to sure if this advice is totally correct but as the rumors are at the moment Microsoft  is trying to get rid of XP and are not supporting Windows XP in due course.

i am having a similar problem i am running a genuine copy of windows XP 32 BIT but it says that after activating it is not a valid serial key windows said to me " Your copy of Windows XP may be having problems due to the amount of illegal coppies and serial genorators that are out".  and to be honest not all that the said is false as you have a 000.1% chance of getting someones serial key via a genorator. i hope this information helped any.

could i also get some help as when i installed my copy of XP I'm not sure if this is a virus or a corrupt file in the DOS ( Error loanding
        C:/WINDOWS/System32/NvMcTray.dll  and
C:/WINDOWS/System32/NvCpl.dll  "The specified module could not be found" that is for both.  These appear after turning my computer on as soon as you get to your desktop please replie.

NvCpl.dll and NvMcTray.dll are  NVidia files. Therefore, I would suggest you try reinstalling the latest version of the NVidia graphics drivers.

Normally it shouldn't be a spyware or virus but viruses or spyware file may have just masked itself under the real file's name ... doing a HiJatk This log and having malware specialist double check wouldn't hurt.

NvCpl should be for the nvidia control panel, and

See the link below for more description about nvmctray.dll:

Try to reformat your PC (which one helped me), but don't do a quick format (make a normal format).
This was the method to fix my problem on acvtiating both of microsoft softwares (windows xp sp2 and office 2003)
        Cheers
