    Send/Receive Fax
    « on: May 29, 2009, 01:07:32 PM »
I use Suddenlink phone and internet service thinking that sending or receiving a fax would be a piece of cake with my Dell all-in-one 926 printer. However after setting up the send/receive information in the Dell PC Fax window nothing happens. The modem is a Touchstone Telephony Modem. My OS is Vista. Suggestions?

        Nalee, who's the manu.?

Has it not occurred to you that Don has probably already perused the manual?

I should expect that someone who declares themeselves MCP, which I assume is a Microsoft Certified Professional, to have better customer service skills, and better manners in general.

Don, you may want to check with Suddenlink to be sure their digital phone service supports sending faxes.  Most digital services do.  Some don't.

You say you've set up the information.  I'm assuming that you load the paper you want to fax, enter the number, and press Send.  Nothing happens after that?  Do you hear the fax dialing out?  Most faxes will scan the pages before attempting to make the phone connection.  Does the machine scan your pages?

Also, Don, as a gentle reminder, most all in one units "default" to Copy mode.  I trust you are engaging the Fax mode?

Try one of the free online fax services:

google [ free online fax service ]

        http://faxzero.com/

        p.s.

I have not used the above service.

        Good  Luck

AEGIS...... I appreciate your input on my comment, but thats one of the first rules in trouble shooting, don't expect or assume anything.  Gather as much info as you can,  you don't know their level of computer knowledge, and I thought the job of computer forum was to offer any form of assistance.  And what does MCP have to do with anything???????  ::)  Besides, you know what they say about assumptions......right
