My computer has been running fine until a few days ago. Shut it down one night, started it up the next morning and things went down hill from there. First thing I noticed was my antivirus had an alert that said it was turned off. (AVG 8.5) Went to Windows security center and every time I tried to turn it on, it froze. I had to go to task manager to shut down. I thought if I uninstalled and tried to download a new version it would solve the problem, that's when I found out any program I tried to uninstall would freeze that screen. I have to go to task manager to shut down that window also. I found some good ideas for malware protection here in the forums but when I try to download them, nothing happens no matter which one I try. I read in one of the forums that maybe I didn't have administration rights to change programs. I went to the command prompt entered, "net user administrtor/active:yes" nothing happens. Also tried "msconfig" same thing, tried "regedit" same thing. No commands will work in DOS.
Prior to this all my updates for antivirus and Microsoft updates are current. Windows update is turned on and files are waiting to be installed but when I hit INSTALL the screen freezes. I have had problems in the past but nothing like this. It's got me baffled, HELP.
